Position Title: Production Planner

Department: Operations

Reports to: Scheduling Manager

Position Summary:

This position is for a production planner who will support customer needs by interfacing with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering and Sales to develop and implement production schedules that optimize on time delivery.

Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:

This position includes the following essential functions, but is not limited to them:

• Create work orders based on customer purchase orders; print and distribute to appropriate departments

• Understand mechanics of ERP systems to avoid excess WIP and finished goods inventory

• Assist with monitoring workflow and discuss with Scheduling Manager to determine capacity and strategic planning to ensure on time delivery

• Update backlog daily to ensure all customer orders are released and/or checked for material availability; masters created and approved for production release; report any issues to Scheduling Manager

• Assist Scheduling Manager with updating capacity reports

• Release meters and tube sets when notified of their delivery from the Receiving Department

• Release powder work orders when requested and bring to warehouse

• Complete scrap tickets by issuing revised work orders to replace part(s) or show extended work times

• Monitor WIP report and scrap tickets to closeout any open operations for month end

• Run weekly/monthly reports to include: Planned orders, LS coat-by date, labor ticket, zero hours, incomplete operations and capacity reports

• Assist with special projects to support lean management

• Interact with Sales, Purchasing and Manufacturing regarding shipments, schedule changes, shortages or other topics to develop and maintain a good working relationship

• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, Word)
• Knowledge of ERP systems, specifically Visual Manufacturing is helpful
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Communicate effectively with all departments and all levels of employees
• Work in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions and changes in priorities
• Assist with projects and challenge processes for continual improvements
• Work cooperatively in a team environment
• Demonstrate strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
